Scholarships are available at MxCC!  Applications are made available through the Office of the Dean of Learning & Student Development.  Criteria is clearly defined in the application and a deadline date is provided.  Deserving students are selected by a committee of faculty, staff, and foundation members.  Each scholarship donor's intent is honored during the selection process.

For the 2010 - 2011 academic year, the Foundation has about 60 scholarships available for students.  Funds are raised continuously and expended for scholarships in May.  These scholarships enable entering and/or continuing students to access an education at MxCC that otherwise might be impossible.

A completed scholarship or award application includes:

  • A  completed 2011 Scholarship Application form, including all required materials, signatures and dates. (Applications with missing information will be returned.

  • A copy of your current spring 2011 MxCC transcript (copy from Banner Self Service is sufficient) or high school transcript if an entering student. If this is your first semester at MxCC, please provide mid-term grades using the Mid-term Grade Report attached to this application.

  •  At least a 3.0 cumulative GPA (unless otherwise noted in the scholarship criteria).

  •  At least two letters of recommendation (on official letterhead) one of which must be from a current
    MxCC faculty member if you are a returning student. Letters must indicate the writer’s relationship to you, e.g., high school or college faculty, employer, volunteer supervisor, etc. Important: Letters from relatives and friends will not be accepted.

  •  A typed essay, one to two pages only, describing what motivates you to succeed, why you wish to be considered for a scholarship, how MxCC is helping you to achieve your goals, and what you want to accomplish with your life and for your community.

  •  A completed 2010 – 2011 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is required and can be completed and submitted online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The code number for MxCC is 008038.  Attach a copy of your confirmation page to this application. (The financial information contained on the FAFSA form will aid the Scholarship Selection Committee in its deliberations.
