MIDDLETOWN – The Middlesex Community College Foundation has elected new officers and members to its board of directors.
George Eames IV, the president of Lee Manufacturing in Wallingford, was named as the chairman, Mark D. Benigni, Meriden superintendent of schools, was elected vice chairman and Anne Cassady, a Middlesex Community College professor emerita, was elected secretary. Middletown attorney Jule A. Crawford and realtor and former Middletown school board member Jay Keiser were also elected to the foundation board of directors.
Cassady was a regular board of directors member before being elected as secretary, and the other four members are new to the board. The 12-member board elects its own members.
The foundation oversees fundraising for students and programs at the college. It supports fundraisers, scholarships, campus projects and academic programs.
"We are fortunate to have such exceptional support in our community," said MxCC President Anna Wasescha in a news release. "The work of the foundation is far-reaching and has a direct and indirect affect on countless lives, on and off campus."
The other board of directors members are: Garrett Birdsey of Middletown, Sheila Iglesias of Middletown, Richard Muniz of Hamden, Ellen Long of Rocky Hill, James Shapiro of Middletown, Marci Swede of Middletown and Judith Felton of Middletown.
